KAMEEL CRUZ
Hello, my name is Kameel. I am a 14-year-old artist and have been a member of Movement City (MC) since 2022. I’ve been drawing since kindergarten and am currently participating in MC’s Clubhouse workshop. When I first started, I created my art with pencil and paper, but I have recently begun experimenting with digital illustration. I appreciate the time I have to create, and I also enjoy resting. Some of my goals are to sell my art and to become skilled enough to design logos for different brands.
The Idea Behind the Design

When I first began to draw the design for the Bread & Roses Festival, I researched the history behind the Strike of 1912. The slogan “Bread for all, and the roses too” served as the main inspiration for my work. Initially, I thought of creating a basket of sorts, but I decided to simplify the design to really emphasize the bread and roses. I’m very happy with how the design came out and very pleased that the Bread & Roses Heritage Committee chose my design for this year’s Festival.
